Job Description

The AmeriCorps member in this role will serve as the AmeriCorps Program Specialist with Underdog Rescue and Rehab. We are seeking a dynamic, organized, self-motivated, and proactive leader who is willing to commit 19 hours a week helping the organization accomplish its goal of expanding and strengthening the mobile veterinary clinic portion of our mission. The mobile program provides otherwise unavailable spay/neuter and wellness services to pets and working animals of families in rural parts of the Native American reservations of the Four Corners region. The individual will ensure that volunteer needs are met through recruitment and training. Training may include manuals (both electronic and printed), cheat sheets, and in-person training at clinics. A solid volunteer base of both skilled and lay people, helps clinic programs run efficiently so more services can be provided. It is an important part of our overall program. The Americorps specialist will be integral in enhancing community engagement through social media and other means with an eye toward making efficient services available to the communities served.If you have an interest in Native culture and in improving the lives of both animals and rural communities, we encourage you to apply.


Member Duties : Duties and Responsibilities: Interact with Animals and Native people with cultural sensitivity Create and streamline processes and procedures to recruit and facilitate efficient use of volunteers Attend Monthly Clinics as needed Play an integral role in engaging more Native Americans in the clinic program Building a strong local base of volunteers and ambassadors from the communities we serve Support the expansion of the mobile clinic program
