Oakwood Village Assisted Living is looking for a congenial, professional, hard-working, and reliable individual to fill our available Part Time Activities Assistant positions.

Hours are typically 9:00am-5:00pm

Must be able to pass background check, medical and drug test.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Activities Assistant assists the Activities Director in providing a program of therapeutic activities designed to meet the interests and enhance the functional abilities and self-esteem of each resident. Takes direction from the Activities Director and follows a pre-planned schedule of activities created by the Activities Director, occasionally altering activities to accommodate resident needs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists Activities Director in conducting assessments and gathering information to design activities program that meets the functional levels, needs and interests of each resident.
  • Provides individual or group activities for residents that reflect interests of residents.
  • Provides activities to residents that are confined to their rooms that reflect life/long interests such as music, reading, and visit with people of shared interests and in-room projects that the resident can work on independently or with staff assistance.
  • Provides structured activities to meet the needs of cognitively impaired residents such as music, events, gross motor games or outdoor walks.
  • Develops and implements effective procedures to ensure that all residents are informed that activities are occurring, that staff encourage participation and that transportation is provided.
  • Records progress notes in clinical record including resident response, observed symptoms and behavior, interventions provided to resident and resident’s responses to activity interventions.

QUALIFICATIONS/SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Well groomed, cheerful and enthusiastic;
  • Age 18 or older;
  • Enjoys working with the elderly;
  • Able to perform frequent lifting or less than or equal to 30 lbs

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High School graduate or equivalent GED;
  • Valid First Aid certification
  • Experience in a senior living setting is a plus

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $17.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Day shift

Work Location: In person
