Join the NVFS Family: We are looking to hire an Accounts Payable Specialist to join the Finance team! As the Accounts Payable Specialist, you will be responsible for posting all invoices and paying the majority of the Agency’s bills.

This position has a starting salary of low to mid 30s.

You will work 30 hours per week.

In this role, you will:

  • Review invoices prior to payment to ensure adherence to agency polices, accuracy, and proper coding.
  • Communicate with staff and vendors for invoice clarifications as needed while maintaining a professional, articulate, and pleasant demeanor at all times.
  • Record accounts payable in Great Plains, including printing and mailing checks.
  • Maintain all accounts payable reports, related spreadsheets, and accounts payable files.
  • Analyze and prepare annual 1099s.
  • Assist with other regular Finance activities as needed, including quarterly balance sheet reconciliations and annual audit schedules.
  • Perform back-up function for accounts payable for foster care parent payments and medical bills.
  • Maintain department files in accordance with department requirements and NVFS guidelines.
  • Maintain current level of knowledge on finance software and accounting procedures.
  • Participate in regular supervision with supervisor by providing regular updates.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • May be assigned to supervise, train, support, and/or collaborate with volunteer(s) and/or intern(s).

Your Background: We understand that you may obtain skills through a variety of professional, personal, educational, and volunteer experiences.

  • High School graduate
  • At least one (1) year related work experience in accounts payable and/or general finance preferred.
  • Customer service orientation.
  • Oral and written fluency in English required. Additional language skills always welcome.
  • Proficiency in usage of basic technological tools including laptops/computers, email, phones, and internet required. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Must be able to demonstrate and live the organizational values of Communication, Integrity, Respect, Collaboration, and Accountability.
  • Successful completion of background checks required upon hire
