Company Profile

Department Information
The Accounting department handles the accounting for insurance trusts, restaurants, aircraft chartering, auto leasing and several non-real estate endeavors, including parking garages, medical billing services, and software development.
As the company experiences significant growth in the number, size, and complexity of its investments, we are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic intern to join the Accounting (Family Office) department who enjoys working in a changing environment as part of team building.
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Assistant to join our team part-time. The Accounting Assistant will support our accounting department in various administrative tasks and assist with financial record-keeping. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of accounting principles and is proficient in using accounting software and tools.
This part-time position is on-site at our Port Washington, NY office. Candidate must reside within reasonable commuting distance.
Responsibilites:
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
- Assist with bank reconciliation
- Conduct account reconciliation and balance sheet reconciliation
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements
- Perform data entry and maintain accurate records of financial transactions
- Assist with general ledger review
- Support month-end and year-end close processes
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities
- Collaborate with the accounting team to ensure compliance with GAAP and SOX regulations
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
- Proven experience as an Accounting Assistant or similar role
- Proficient in using accounting software
- Strong knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
- Familiarity with credit analysis and balance sheet reconciliation
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record keeping
- Strong analytical skills for financial analysis and reporting
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
