TEACH KIDS ABOUT BIRDS, BUGS, SURVIVAL SKILLS AND MORE ALONG THE BOISE RIVER IN BOISE, IDAHO EverWild Forest School connects children to the natural world, inspiring and creating healthy, active, and engaged citizens who choose to explore the outdoors responsibly. The Summer Camp Educator will support the program, build positive relationships with youth, and have the opportunity to create and facilitate their projects and lessons! Project Location/Transportation Needs: Members will need to provide their own transportation to and from work locations in either Boise or Eagle, Idaho. Work location can alternate between the two stated locations weekly. Dates of Service: 300-hour term from June 2024-August 2024 with additional training in May. Camp Schedule is Monday-Friday from 8:45AM-2:15PM. Additional community outreach and community volunteer events will take place throughout the term.
Member Duties : MEMBER ACTIVITIES/DUTIES: ¿ assist w/program recruitment & special events, ex. field trips, family engagement activities, & community service opportunities ¿foster cohesive teaching team w/other Camp Educators ¿ provide high-quality nature-based activities for youth ¿ develop & utilize skills in environmental education & interpretation by: ¿ assist with/lead group activities that compliment a unique, place-based curriculum ¿ actively guide students in the outdoor classroom ¿ utilize inquiry-based learning process ¿ help manage day-to-day operational activities of students ¿ aid in flow of students during transitions, interface w/parents & site staff, provide consistently safe/supportive environment for youth ¿ Participate in reqd. professional development. Topics: Sustainability, Family Engagement, & Lesson Planning/Implementation ¿ Attend staff planning meetings & monthly AmeriCorps check-in meetings ¿ Participate in recurring observations/debriefings
